Education
Dr. Andrew T. Koogler, MD is a double board-certified interventional pain management physician and anesthesiologist at Puget Sound Pain Clinic. He serves patients from all over King and Pierce counties.
Dr. Koogler is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He was one of thirty-five students accepted out of high school to an accelerated 6-year medical program, during which he obtained his bachelor of science degree in 2 years with magna cum laude honors, and graduated in the top 25% of his medical school class at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Following medical school, Dr. Koogler completed anesthesiology residency training at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and his interventional pain management fellowship at the prestigious Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. He obtained his board certification in both anesthesiology and pain medicine, scoring above the 95th percentile.
Dr. Koogler strives to improve the quality of life for all patients affected with chronic pain. He focuses on an integrative treatment approach and looks at each patient’s individual goals. By doing so, Dr. Koogler works with each patient to create custom treatment options. These treatments may include diet, lifestyle modifications, medication management, injections, spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pumps, ketamine infusions and/or regenerative medicine. Dr. Koogler continuously educates himself and attends training on the latest treatments for pain patients. Therefore, he ensures his patients have all the latest tools available for their treatment. He has experience in several fields including internal medicine, hospitalist medicine, anesthesiology and pain management. He has authored articles on topics ranging from cancer to pain management, in addition to presenting at numerous anesthesia and pain management conferences across the country since 2013.
Dr. Koogler decided to move to Seattle in order to live closer to family and explore all the great outdoor activities that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Outside of the clinic he enjoys fitness, hiking, martial arts, snowboarding, swimming, and yoga.
