MORE ABOUT Andrew
Biography
Andrew Merrick is a certified Physician Assistant with a background rooted in service, both in the military and in medicine. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1996, proudly serving for four years. His experience in the Navy laid a strong foundation for his disciplined, team-oriented approach to healthcare.
Andrew began his formal medical education in 2013, attending the University of Alaska before graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Health Sciences and a Physician Assistant certificate.
He is passionate about patient outcomes and finds the most fulfillment in seeing people regain their quality of life. One of his favorite aspects of practicing medicine is following complex cases from beginning to end, especially when the result is that a patient no longer needs further care. Currently, in his pain management practice, Andrew is expanding his procedural skills, including training in interarticular joint and trigger point injections to further serve his patients’ needs.
Though he was born in Southern California, Andrew was raised in the small Southeast Alaskan towns of Kake, Wrangell, and False Island, just south of Juneau. A lifelong Alaskan at heart, he enjoys everything the outdoors has to offer, fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping. Alaska’s mountains and waters make the perfect playground for his adventurous spirit.
