Addiction Specialist

Dr. Maria L. Freeman specializes in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) at Algone Premier as part of the Dependency Therapy center. Her team partners with the Mat-Su Opioid Task Force and works with the community to fight the opioid epidemic in Alaska.

Dr. Freeman was born and raised in South Wales, Great Britain. She later moved to New York City where she began her academic studies and received degrees from: City College of New York: Undergraduate studies, Long Island University: Postgraduate studies, and Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine: Medical Doctorate

Because Dr. Freeman also practices family medicine at Family Medicine of Alaska, her community ties are strong and diverse. Her love for her patients shines through at Algone Premier, where she initiated and sustained the Dependency Therapy center for opioid dependence. Dr. Freeman’s team works to help improve quality of life for their patients by establishing a collaborative partnership and meaningful relationship.

Dr. Freeman enjoys the camaraderie and shared vision at Algone Premier. She is driven to assist those in need and welcomes them with understanding and compassion.
